In the history of tango, the standard sextet, composed of two bandonions, two violins, a double bass and a piano, is the turning point which separates the “Guardia Vieja” period from a period of renewal and revolution, started by the violinist Julio De Caro in 1924. He was the leader of the historic sextet, who gave the go-ahead to the so called “Guardia Nueva”, conssidered as the beginning of all the following tango avant-gardes. “Viento de Tango” sextet, which differs from the “De Caro style” sextet only because of the use of the cello in place of the second violin, proposes a huge repertoire made of versions of tango, milonga and “vals criollo” ( respecting the historic arrangements of the past maestros such as Pugliese and Troilo but also offering new and original performances) in fascinating show of music, sing and dance.
This musical experience will lead the audience by the hand, through the long history and the different historical-stylistic stages of this genre, the tango, that stirs up incomparable emotions, thanks to its longing and sad melodies alternating with gritty and vigorous rhythms.
